Temple Update - May, 2008

The temple consecration date has now been set for December 3, and we are in high gear preparing the temple for all the honored guests who will be arriving from near and far.

Dendrub and Damchö, a very accomplished father and son sculpturing team from Bhutan, arrived last month and have been working day and night to finish the halos and details on all the statues as well as the traditional deer and dharma wheel that will ornament the front of the temple.

Kunley, also from Bhutan, is adding his efforts to the carving and construction of the wooden shrine that will surround the statues, and Ugyen and his dedicated team continue with their painting of  intricately shaded details on the rafters and beams in the shrineroom.

In addition to the artwork projects, we are also attempting to finish some large scale landscaping projects around the temple, including a sun and moon courtyard in front and the construction of the lamphouse and entry portal.

We also received funding for some of the temples more practical necessities and will finally be finishing the kitchen and installing an interphone system and hopefully soon will also be replacing the bare lightbulbs with actual light fixtures.

We are receiving many comments from visitors about how beautiful the temple is and we hope that you will be able to come for the consecration and see for yourself the results of everyones efforts and the manifestation of H. E. Chagdud Tulku Rinpoches blessings as this vivid display of enlightened intent.
